How to Keep Hot Tub Filters Working

The best method of ensuring your hot tub filters are working properly is to keep foreign debris out of them. Water flows through your hot tub filters every minute the hot tub is running, and along with that water comes leaves, bacteria, bugs, and hair just to name a few contaminants. You’ll want to make certain that you have good water circulation and you can do this by running the hot tub for at least an hour every day, even if no one is using the tub. Also add a water clarifier to the hot tub at least once a week unless you’re using PH Balance. Clean your hot tub filters often (depending on how often your hot tub is used) and replace them no less frequently than every two years. If you start to notice the hot tub filter cracking, replace it immediately as it will unable to filter properly leaving the tub with a build up of debris.

Make sure to use the proper chemicals that are recommended for your type of hot tub as the hot tub filters work great but they do need some help to keep your tub working in peak performance. Most experts recommend having two hot tub filters, that way when one needs cleaned you can immediately slip the other filter into the tub so the water will continue to filter out the debris.

As much as possible, try to use your hot tub when you’re clean. The various deodorants, skin products and hair products that people use are not good for hot tub filters; nor are oils or soaps. If you want to keep your hot tub filters working their best, following these simple steps of keeping the filters free of contaminants, which in turn will keep your hot tub’s pump working at its best as well.
